Blackboard: Fundamentals Training
Prerequisite to all other Blackboard Training Sessions. This training session offers an overview of the basic tools and their functions, course maintenance and administration, navigating and understanding the new interface, and linking to a syllabus.
Blackboard: Managing Students and the Grade Book
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals This training session offers an overview of the Grade Book Tool in Blackboard. Topics will include setting up the grade book, managing students and grades in the grade book, and exporting grades from Blackboard to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
Blackboard: Using the Communication Tools
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals. Learn to create and facilitate online discussions, course email, and chat rooms as well as the new announcement, blog, and journal tools. The use of these tools can facilitate online discussion and assist in the management of communication with students whether in online or face-to-face courses.
Blackboard: Organize Course Content using the Learning Module Tool
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals. This training session shows the designer easy and effective methods for creating learning modules. The Learning Module Tool can help you organize your course content in a table of contents format which makes it easier for students to follow course content in the form of lecture notes, presentations, assignments, quizzes, etc.
Blackboard: Group Management and Selective Release Tools
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals. Use the Group Management Tool to increase efficiency of course management for you, and ease-of-use for the student. Create students groups that can be assigned to group-specific assessments, discussions, assignments, and sent group-specific emails. The Selective Release Tool has been greatly expanded to include all tools in Blackboard. Using this tool, you can enter opening and closing dates, specify specific individuals or groups, or Gradebook criteria to release assessments, assignments, discussions, and etc. to the students in your course.
Blackboard: Assignment Tool
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals. This training session offers an overview of the Assignment Tool as well as instruction on how to create and maintain assignments within Blackboard. Topics will include creating an assignment, using the assignment dropbox, and a brief look at some of the new options offered to help in creating assignments in Blackboard.
Blackboard: Using the Quiz Tool
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals. We will walk through step-by-step instructions for creating and organizing the question database, creating and configuring online quizzes, viewing student submissions, and will discuss strategies to deter cheating in online assessments.
Blackboard: Grading Forms (Rubrics)
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals The Grading Forms tool provides a more consistent method of grading Students' work by identifying specific criteria and levels of performance against the criteria. Some of the benefits of using a grading form include: performance expectations are clear, grading is consistent, and feedback is structured. In this session, we will walk step-by-step through the process of creating and using grading forms in Blackboard.
Blackboard: Using Respondus with a Publisher Test Bank
Prerequisite: Blackboard Fundamentals. Do you have a Publisher’s Test Bank that you plan to use in your course? Do you need a quick and easy way to get those questions into Blackboard? Respondus may be the program for you. Paired with Blackboard, Respondus allows you to quickly import questions into one or multiple Blackboard courses. Topics will include an overview of the product, formatting and importing test bank questions into Respondus, and connecting to the Blackboard server.
Create Online Lectures: Mesh Your Voice and PowerPoint Using Adobe Presenter
Are you looking for an easy way to add your voice to a PowerPoint to enhance online lecture delivery? This shortcourse walks through the step-by-step instructions to use Adobe Presenter (formerly Macromedia Breeze) to add audio to PowerPoint to create a Flash Presentation for online lectures and other presentations.
Enhancing Student Participation with Polling Systems
Learn the basics of integrating the polling systems into your presentations as either a stand-alone system or with PowerPoint presentations. Find out about classroom techniques and assessment with student polling systems. Learn how to get the most out of the system and increase student participation while gaining an accurate picture of your students' knowledge.

Creating Instructional Materials with Camtasia
With the demand of online services increasing rapidly, a need for round-the-clock help, lends itself nicely to the development and use of online tutorials. Camtasia is a video screen recording program that records, edits and shares videos of any action on your Windows desktop. This session will demonstrate the use of Camtasia and show how to create video screen captures, shockwave files to use online, animated images for icons, and streaming video files.

Basic Poster Design using PowerPoint
This 1-hour class is designed to equip faculty with basic poster design techniques. PowerPoint is the preferred software used to create posters, and hands-on instruction is included. Setting up page sizes, utilization of text boxes, fonts, backgrounds, and images will be the major focus areas. Basic page layout aimed at attracting viewers will also be discussed as well as examples of good posters.
