Proctored Secured Online Testing
The TLTC is offering assistance in administration of examinations online in a computer lab on a secured machine providing restricted access to the student without compromising the computer lab's existing role. This means that the lab can maintain a dual role as both a traditional computer lab as well as a secure testing facility.
The TLTC will assist in configuration and implementation of the software and help establish examination/testing rooms for your department, however the TLTC will not administer your department's testing rooms on your department's behalf. The TLTC, as always, will be available to help trouble-shoot problems and employ new ideas and technology in both your testing rooms and in your classroom technology needs.
Requirements
In order to establish a Secure Online Testing Room the TLTC asks that you provide a networked PC computer lab running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed on every machine as well as someone to monitor and maintain the lab in accordance with industry and TTU University standard practices for academic computer labs. There are no constraints as to the number of computers that may be available in your lab.

Technical Information
The secured computer employs the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit in conjunction with Windows XP settings as well as a third party spam filter. The shared toolkit requires a portion of the hard disk drive be partitioned but not formatted to accommodate the software's ability to restore the portioned drive dedicated to the testing side of the computer to it's original state. The Toolkit allows a non-GPO oriented approach to securing a computer in a kiosk mode.
