12th Annual Wakonse South Conference
Texas Tech faculty and graduate students are invited to join the 12th Annual Wakonse South Conference on College Teaching. Wakonse South will be held in the peak of the bluebonnet season, 3-5 April 2009, at the Canyon of the Eagles Resort in the Texas hill country (http://www.canyonoftheeagles.com/). There will be engaging conversations about learning and teaching among college faculty, many stimulating presentations by conference participants, and beautiful surroundings all combined to create a renewing, refreshing, and wonderful conference. Past participants have reported that they re-energized and enjoyed socializing, learning, teaching, and relaxing.
The program for any Wakonse conference is a participatory one, built around the interests and expertise of the faculty attending. This will not be a weekend you spend listening to people read papers. Rather, you will hear from experienced teachers from our own campuses. You will be asked to reflect on your own teaching experience and to share successes and failures with your colleagues. When you return to your campus, you will take with you ideas that you can adapt to your own classrooms and the names of new friends and colleagues. Many Texas Tech faculty have participated in Wakonse South in the past and enjoyed this unique experience.
The cost for the entire conference including all meals and two nights of accommodations is only $300.00. You can register and find out more about the conference at http://cte.tamu.edu/ws/index.php. If you would like more information about Wakonse South, please contact Suzanne Tapp. The TLTC is pleased to recommend Wakonse South and we encourage you to participate!
