Diane Halpern is a Professor and Chair of Psychology at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, CA. She also serves as the Director of the Berger Institute for Work, Family, and Children at Claremont and is past-president of the American Psychological Association (APA). Dr. Halpern has published numerous books including Thought and Knowledge: An Introduction to Critical Thinking, Sex Differences in Cognitive Abilities, and From Work-Family Balance to Work-Family Interaction: Changing the Metaphor. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, her M.A. from Temple University and earned both an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Halpern has received many awards for her excellence in teaching, including the 2002 Western Psychological Association Outstanding Teaching Award, the 1999 American Psychological Award for Distinguished Teaching, and the California State University's State-Wide Outstanding Professor Award. She has presented throughout the United States as well as South Africa, Turkey, China, Canada, England, Peru, Sweden, and Australia.
